Last year, we spent a lot of time sailing the Ionian Sea together with friends and family while preparing for our new chapter and future sailing business. Those trips were never meant as commercial charters — they were a chance for us to learn, test ideas, gain experience and, most importantly, share the adventure with people who supported us along the way.
By the end of the season, there was still money left in the shared onboard budget. Instead of dividing it up, we decided together to donate it to the DGzRS, better known in Germany as the “Seenotretter”, the independent German sea rescue service.
The final donation came to €2,850.
A little while later, the Seenotretter got in touch and asked whether we would be interested in doing an interview about it. The article is now online on their website (German only):
We’re genuinely happy that this small story received so much attention, because in the end, the donation says a lot more about the generosity, trust and support we experienced from the people around us throughout the past year than it does about us alone.
